"On Thursday, I was perfectly fine. This week had been pretty decent. My birthday was on Monday, I turned 34. I was having a good day. I was having a good week, then all of a sudden Thursday hits and I kind of started to feel really sh*tty, like it came out of nowhere until I messaged both of my coaches at the same time. I'm talking to both of them and I'm having conversations with them over the fact that lately, I have felt so fucking numb, just so numb to everything that was going on in my life, so f*cking numb, and I kept saying to them, I think I'm broken."
In this episode of the Fierce as F*ck podcast, Amanda talks about a really sensitive topic that seemingly came from out of nowhere, and turned a pretty good week into one of the hardest that she had to go through. Having post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) truly weighs heavily on anybody and can make you feel the way that Amanda suddenly felt --- broken. You just feel numb all over, or worse, you don’t feel anything at all.
No, it won’t have anything to do with Mercury retrograde, full moon, solar storm, or any other cosmic occurrence whatsoever. It doesn’t have an off switch either. Even if you attempt to brush it off and go on with your day as if it isn’t there, your efforts will all be in vain. Flashbacks and that numbing sensation are all that you get most of the time.
But, we are not supposed to be perfect. Though we still want to be, as we try to show up and show people that we worked on our sh*t. Sometimes, the most powerful thing that we can do is to admit, yes, I am not there yet, I am still healing.
"I have PTSD, and the last thing I ever wanted to do was to have to show (what I'm going through) to my people, my clients, my audience. But not every situation you can jump out of super easily. Not every situation can be fixed with thinking positively in it, and focusing on the silver lining that sometimes things just can't be fixed right away."
